Helping Our Parents

About Us
Since 2007, the Institute for Student Empowerment, under the direction of CEO, Wesley (Wes) F. Hall, has partnered with districts across the country to conduct an independent research project designed to measure the attitudes and behaviors of students who emanate from economically challenged environments and their cognitive wherewithal pertaining to education and their future financial well-being. By working side-by-side, with certified teachers, during the school day, Institute representatives were able to observe and identify recurring patterns of behavior that contributed to classroom disruptions, student/teacher power struggles, student disengagement, truancy, and student dropout. We now bring the findings of our ongoing research project to districts throughout the United States and offer assistance in four key areas of development:
Our innovative approaches and proven strategies are research-based and classroom friendly. Our unique advantage to training is aided by the fact we are still in the classroom. Few training organizations are granted access to the classroom, during the school-day, and very few teachers create training modules based on classroom interactions. This exceptional advantage enables our team to create training modules that mirror real-time classroom experiences, and offer interactive role playing, behavior modification techniques and social emotional programming that help teachers identify, address, modify, and redirect challenging student behavior. Our parental workshops ascribe to the belief that parent empowerment equals parent engagement. Our research has identified the lack of lifelong learning as a critical factor contributing to parent disengagement. We, therefore, provide parent empowerment workshops designed solely for the motivation of the parent. Our student workshops help students connect a quality education to their future financial well-being. And, our young men of color offerings provides mentors and conferences to young men, and strategies for re-engaging disengaged young men to teachers. |
