Mr. Wes Hall
Wes Hall, is an Arthur Vining Davis Fellow, Aspen's Institute Scholar, Educational Consultant, Author, and Radio Talk Show Host.
Mr. Hall, co-created, and currently heads, the Young Men of Color Initiative, for the Los Angeles Unified School District. He co-authored the, "My Brother's Keeper," Resolution for the district, which satisfies a commitment made by the Board of Directors, to the Council of Great City Schools. He co-created the, "Village Mentoring Program," that provides adults mentors to students throughout the district. This year, though a partnership with the UCLA Collaborative, the number of schools served by the Village Program, will increase from 13 to 38. The district hopes to scale the program over the next 5 years to reach many more schools. |
Mr. Hall, created and co-teaches one of the few Elective Courses, in the country, created for and comprised solely of young men of color. The course is entitled, the, "Greatness Academy." The class is a credit-awarding course, being offered at Locke High School, located in Watts, California. Mr. Hall, as a result of his 10-year, ongoing independent research project, developed the curriculum, which is being used to teach the class.
Mr. Hall, is the Host of the, "You Are the Money Radio Show," that airs live from Los Angeles, California, every Thursday, at 11am-pst, on Accelerated Radio. Aspen's Idea's Committee names Wes Hall an "Aspen Scholar."
The Aspen's Idea Festival Committee, selected and named Wes, an "Aspen's Scholar," and one of America's "Emerging Leaders. LAUSD retains the services of PD trainer, Wes Hall, to provide "Relationship Building," training to principals, at Summer Institute 2015
The Los Angeles Unified School District's, department of Curriculum and instruction, thanked Wes Hall for his expertise and educational wisdom. Hall was selected as one of the few outside resources to provide "Relationship Building" training to principals, at the district's "Summer Institute 2015." Approximately 250 principals from across the district participated in Hall's workshops. As one of the nation's leading experts in the area of prevention and intervention strategies for young men of color, Mr. Hall's insights on the subject are in high demand. Hall's space was upgraded from 40 participants (the number of attendees last year), to 200, this year. The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations committee, selected Wes Hall from a distinguished list of candidates and named him an, "Arthur Vining Davis Fellow." Wes Hall, will head the Village Movement for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Mr. Hall will manage the initiative, which is part of the district's "My Brother's Keeper" project (created by the Obama Administration). Hall will coordinate the adult mentors, host conferences for the young men, and track data for the program. Wes Hall has been selected to host the new "Student Voices" television show for Los Angeles Unified School District. The show will highlight positive happenings among students from across the district. The first show is slated to air in early December.
