Welcome to the The official site for the Institute for Student Empowerment!

Our mission ~ To help economically challenged students gain a deeper understanding of how to connect a quality education to their future financial well-being ~ to help teachers develop relationships with students who come from diverse backgrounds, and to provide administrators with strategies and insights that help them develop programming essential to meet their goal of graduating every student under their charge.

We are headquartered in Los Angeles, California and provide consulting to the Los Angeles Unified School District. We created the first series of "Young Men of Color" conferences for the district (teachers, parents, and students), and currently manage the ongoing "Village Movement," (which is comprised of volunteers who mentor young men of color, throughout the district).

What we do ~ Since 2007, The Institute has worked to help transform schools through providing professional development training to teachers, empowerment training to students, and motivational/student support training to parents. We have provided training to more than 5000 teachers and para-professionals, over 1500 parents, and thousands of students.

Our innovative"Relationship Building" workshops provide teachers with behavior modification and social emotional strategies that enable them to identify, address, modify, and redirect challenging student behavior.

Our student workshops incorporates proven strategies that help students strengthen critical thinking/problem solving skills, requisite to connect a quality education to their future well-being.

Our parent motivational workshops helps parents understand the importance and relevance of their continual participation in the educational process of their child. Our strategies are designed to provide insights into the complex arena of parent/teacher relationship building, and parent/child motivation.

In all, we present a holistic approach to helping district's, principals, teachers, parents, and students reform the way they see the educational experience. We bring to bare our full body of work pertaining to the transformation of disproportionately affected  students, share those insights with those with whom we work, and help them to develop and implement innovative programming, designed to increase the probability of graduating every student under their charge.
